• Review in Progress: RimWorld

  • The other day I finally broke down and gave RimWorld a try. I’ve watched a stream here and there of the game but felt that I didn’t have the time to take on what seemed like quite a complex game. However, I know my wife loves the game and can easily spend hours playing it if left unchecked so I figured “Why not?” Thanks to the library-sharing ability of Steam, I didn’t even have to buy the game myself either if I didn’t want to.

So I started playing and streaming the game and was very surprised to find that it really wasn’t as difficult as I thought. There are multiple different ways to play the game just by changing the difficulty and storyteller options, which are basically the AI that controls how random your game plays out. The tutorial at the start gives you a good basic knowledge of how to play the game and after that is complete, it will continue giving you advice and tips if you choose to let it do so.

Not only is the game quite helpful in getting you started, but as I’ve been streaming while playing, I’ve also had several people jump into the channel and give me a hand as well. So that’s been even more encouraging to keep playing – besides the fact that it’s a ton of fun!

I still have a lot to learn, so I’ll keep you posted. But in the meantime you can check out my stream or VODs of gameplay over at http://www.twitch.tv/rekoor or check out the game yourself on Steam.

    Later for now,
